What we do
Skills, strategies and support to build a just, regenerative world—without losing your spark.
With an approach rooted in nature’s wisdom, Sister Seasons works with impact-driven individuals and organizations to expand their capacity to renew themselves, their communities and our planet, so that advancing our visions for change is not only more effective—but personally sustainable.
It’s not easy being a changemaker.
You see what’s possible, but also what’s ahead if we do nothing. Everything feels important and urgent, yet you never feel like you’re doing enough. And as if your resources and energy weren’t already stretched, each day comes with fresh demands.
Underneath this struggle is a hard truth: The ways we’re working to advance systemic change can never create the flourishing world we envision.
Here’s why:
The strategies we rely on often recreate the extractive systems we’re trying to change, keeping us stuck in the status quo.
Our expectations of constant productivity are at odds with our bodies and the pace of change. No wonder we’re always on the brink of burnout.
The skills that get rewarded aren’t suited to the unique challenges of a rapidly changing planet OR our visions for change, making progress slow—or non-existent.
Add to that the additional obstacles of being a woman or gender-diverse person in the workplace, and it’s enough to make you want to quit altogether.
But before you give up, consider:
What if the very thing you’re trying to protect—our planet—could provide a framework to make a meaningful impact with more ease and joy?
As an impact professional, I thought the hard way was the only way—for decades.
Before starting Sister Seasons, I spent the entirety of my 20+ year career in environmental and social impact—from esteemed nonprofits to visionary corporations. I’ve always had the passion, commitment and vision to help people + planet—but what I didn’t have were the tools, skills, models or even worldview to prepare me for the long-term work of systems change.
Like many changemakers, I had absorbed that my work would inherently be a battle of scarcity, sacrifice and persistence. But after learning that women are disproportionately affected by climate change yet critical to ensuring the environmental + social solutions we design are effective, the burnout I saw in myself and in fellow women in impact took on newfound urgency. I knew there had to be another way of working, so we didn't have to choose between our well-being and taking action for the planet.
Realizing how much I’d internalized the systems I was working to change opened a door to a different path.
As I followed my curiosity into studies in systems thinking, emergent strategy, futures, climate science, and women’s health and leadership, I finally started to see the patterns undermining our well-being and our systems transformation efforts—and the insights within the natural world on how to truly create collective flourishing.
Today, I teach nature’s regenerative wisdom through public programs exclusively for women and non-binary individuals and organizational offerings open to all. The result: Resilient, adaptive and nourished leaders with the skills to share their gifts and ensure the future we build supports both their thriving and our planet’s.
THE APPROACH
From working against to working with nature.
While our modern world has forgotten how to create the conditions for life, nature never has. Sister Seasons helps you reconnect to this wisdom, so you can move the needle on your vision for change without sacrificing your well-being in the process. And you might just fall more wildly in love with our planet along the way. Here’s how we do it:
Knowledge
Build your understanding of nature’s regenerative cycles—from the seasons to the menstrual cycle—so you can learn new ways of working, leading and managing your energy that are inherently sustainable.
Inquiry
Break out of binary thinking by asking “what would nature do?” With help from real-world examples, you’ll gather a fresh perspective that can help you release assumptions, discover unexpected solutions, and find ease even in uncertainty.
Experience
Cultivate presence, creativity and well-being by building an intentional relationship with nature through everyday experiential practices that meet you where you are. No 5-day wilderness trek required.
WHY OUR CLIENTS LOVE US
Our focus on cycles makes transformation accessible.
Sister Seasons’ core curriculum is rooted in nature’s cycles. Here’s why:
-
They’re regenerative.
They restore vitality. A great example: when nature reaches the end of a cycle, new life emerges—a stark contrast to the collapse many of us experience whenever we reach the end of a workday or creative project.
-
They’re familiar.
Even if you don’t live in a place that experiences the four seasons, you probably know them well. Meaning you can quickly learn how to integrate nature’s strategies and practices into your daily life for well-being and creativity throughout the year.
-
They reflect our true nature.
While our culture teaches linear growth and constant productivity, it’s not how we—or the earth—actually function. By reclaiming our cyclicality, we learn to work with natural patterns of energy and creativity to create sustainable, enduring impact.
-
They affect all of us.
From the menstrual cycle to the natural seasons to the creative cycles of our work, we’re all impacted by cycles—whether we realize it or not. When you book 1:1 support or team services, we’ll decide which cycles are most relevant to bring into our work together.
IMAGINE…
What might become possible if you approached your flourishing as vital?
At Sister Seasons, we believe that to create a flourishing world, we must nourish the people who are working to build it.
That’s why we’re committed to:
Resourcing women and gender-diverse people to step into climate leadership on their terms
Sparking new regenerative ways of working that end the culture of burnout within social + environmental change professions
Restoring our relationships with nature and our bodies, so we can all access the guidance and support we need to co-create a world that works for everyone
Because flourishing—when rooted in deep integrity—isn’t selfish. It’s the water, the sunshine, the soil that enables the beautiful, just world we’re longing for to sprout.
Our Values
-
Joy, beauty, and pleasure aren’t nice-to-have’s. They are our greatest allies—helping us create a world we want to run toward and providing the resources that can sustain us on our way there.
-
As our world increases in complexity, it’s up to us to grow our capacity to hold it. We think in systems. We befriend ambiguity. We look for opportunities to adapt rather than control—giving ourselves and our planet permission to transform.
-
Our world’s crises are urgent, but our pace can’t be if we’re going to create enduring, effective change. So we don’t rush. We think on scales beyond our lifetimes. We let our pace be cyclical, just like us.
-
We are interdependent parts of a vast ecosystem of life, so we act like it. We choose connection over going it alone—building community not just with other humans, but the whole of the natural world.
-
Knowledge comes in many forms—from science to ancient traditions, from our lived experiences to the sensemaking we do together—and we welcome it all (with discernment of course) to help illuminate our collective path forward.
